Flower Pollination

Hello Everyone!

Hope you all are having a good monday. I know I am! I just got a new assignment to put together a video for the president of CRS! I'm so excited! While doing that, my supervisors are leaving for some soryt of CRS retreat. This means I will be all alone in the video production department. But don't be sad for me...I get to work with the Donor Department while they are away and they seem like some fun people. The video I am working on is for the preseident, Carolyn Woo to use for the conclusion of her presentation(s)... I hope she likes it when I am finished. After it is approved  will post it on here so stay tuned!

On a side note...I am getting a bit sad...August 31st will be my last day at Catholic Relief Services. It has been going by very fast!

Ciao, (Have to get back to work)

Planting Seeds

Hello everyone.
I just wanted to make sure you knew that the last video I posted is on the last blog entry. There is a link provided. Enjoy!

As of late I have been helping out and organizing some things. As of this week I am transcribing interviews of people from different parts of Africa. I am also watching a lot of CRS footage and videos to get a feel for how they put together their videos. I like the way they make their videos. If you wold like to see some of them to get to know them, go on Youtube and search for the CRS channel.

CRS has a database where they place their photos from all over the world and they cover an array of subjucts. Just as well, they have a video database. I am going through the video database to make it easier to search for these videos by giving them key words. Its not that exciting but I get to watch videos all day! Anyway, this is only temporary for a lot of projects are about to come into our department. I may also be helping a department with their media needs as well! stay tuned!

It is a thirty second clip, with lots of bells and whistles so stay tuned!  I hope you guys enjoy it! Thanks for reading!

Passing the First Test: Stretching Petals

Hey Everyone!

Flower here. It's my second week at Catholic Relief Services and I am really learning alot! Right now I am on a new assignment called "footsteps in faith" (if i haven't mentioned it already).  Today will be a short post considering I am building this particular project from scratch.  Plus my lunch break is almost over. I am learning a little about after effects for this one so hopefully my videos and their qualities will improve over the next few weeks...

Here is the link to the first video I did last week. I hope you guys enjoy it! I will post pictures up soon as well as video to spice things up a bit.

Week 1- Flower Blooms in Sunlight

Flower in the City: Catholic Relief Services Intern

                                                              Flower Blooms in Sunlight

Hola! It's been a week here at Catholic Relief Services (CRS). So far so good. I am enjoying myself thus far. Once I get over waking up at 7am everyday I will enjoy it a lot more! haha. Once I get into my work time flies by! So far I am putting the finishing touches on a video I had to put together using existing footage. The object was to make something to introduce two video clips for a classroom seminar. It is called "Scholars in Global Solidarity". I made an intro using photos from the CRS photo database then laid down a voice over (read by a former news anchor from a local Baltimore station) and found an awesome track! I used the "Ken Burns Effect" to liven it up a bit. If you aren't familiar with the Ken Burns effect I suggest you Youtube it. The video included a clip about a village in Malawi and how CRS is helping them gain access to clean water and the other is a clip about a Nigerian orphan who takes care of his siblings. Because of the help from CRS, he adopted and sponsored another young orphan. Really interesting stuff...

Anywho, I met with the client as well as another intern to show my video. I received an applause! Score! I did my happy dance when it was all over! They loved the music and the pictures and everything. All that was left to fix was the audio. No problem! They say I have set the bar for the other interns! Not bad for my first week (not bad at all). After this I am producing and editing a piece called "Footsteps in Faith". Its a video asking to donate to people in need. I shall update you guys more on my progress (so far I have a bunch of photos).

Hasta Luego

Day 1- Fresh Face Among Fresh Faces

Today is my first day at Catholic Relief Services in Baltimore, MD. My name is Monae Dewitt but you can call me Moe (or flower, hence flower in the city). I'll get to why I call myself flower in a bit. Anyway, I would like to tell you a little bit about myself. I am a rising senior at Juniata College, studying digital media and communications. I am originally a Baltimore City Native. I am striving to become a film producer/ editor. I am at a loss for words as to how my life's journey has been for me to make it thus far! In my short 21 years of life I can say I am living the good life, in spite of everything I may have gone through. Enough about my background. Let's dig into my very first day at catholic relief services (and how I got here).

I was told to arrive at the Baltimore office at 9am. I got a little lost getting to work (I have not lived in Baltimore in 3 yrs) but I managed to get there on time. There were a few mishaps but overall it has been a good day. I have meet some of he employees here and they all seem really nice and friendly. I feel like I can fit in at Catholic Relief Services. I bet you may be wondering what is this place I am referring to. This place helps people all over the world that are in poverty without discrimination of race, ethnicity, religion, etc. I am the family and friends intern working in the video production department as well as with the marketing department to help tell the stories of those around the globe that we don't get to have encounters with everyday. Seems fairly straight forward.

So far I have been in two meetings going over video specifications and meeting the people behind them. At Juniata College, I have spent the last three years working at the Digital Media Studio so this is very similar to my job at JC. They tell me I will be producing and editing and holding a lot of different positions here. I have no idea what to expect but I am excited! I hope you are excited too!  I have another meeting so I will be back soon!
